Concept Map

Dear parents,

One of our goals is to continuously improve our teaching method. The latest tool we start to use is “concept map”.

It’s easier for students to learn new concepts if they can be related to concepts that they've already known and when it is represented visually. Joseph D. Novak of Cornell University provides a concise explanation of concept maps, their nomenclature, use, and effectiveness in his article "The Theory Underlying Concept Maps and How to Construct Them."

Here is a concept map that I created for our math lesson “Distance Formula”. Here is the link to the Inspiration software that you can use to create concept maps.

We’ll also be teaching the students to create concept map. I hope you find this information helpful.

Ms. Liu
